GI Minor in VUA (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)
The Minor in VUA is consist of the studied GIS subjects. In one semester three periods and in the first period you'll have two courses, in the second period you can choose one of the research assignments and company where you want to get your internship. The research assignment depends on company. And in the third period of semester you'll have one or two specialization course it's depends on your choice. But, generally I would like to say that everything is interesting and different from Kazakhstan's education system.
My case study
After two courses in the first period I had a case study. It was about "Quality of life in Enschede". Enschede is small municipality in the east of Netherlands. We also had excursion in this municipality before we started our case study.

We all made our case study in groups of two people. So, I worked with Coen. He is one of the GI Minor's student. He is Netherlander and he really helped me to understand how to make this assignment. We choosed the problem of quality of life for people 65+. And we focused on distance to main things for elderly people like distance to shops, bus stops, parks and so on. And in results we made final map where is the high quality of life for people 65+.

My internship at Het Kadaster company, Netherlands.
The GI Minor program includes period of internship in the company and also reseach assignment for them. The period of internship is depends on ECTS credits. They gave for every student two type of credits for selection it's 6 ECTS and 12 ECTS. Which means one month of internship and one specialisation course in the university or two month of internship and then one specialisation course on January. I choosed for 12 ECTS. And also they already had research title from the companies what was comfortable. So, I selected my internship and title at Het Kadaster company and my title was "Usability of Open Source Software Solutions on Land Administration". Of course, I had problem at first time because I did not even know what is the 'open source software'?! But, now after my two month which I spent to learn and research 'open source software' I have enough experience and good knowledge about this type of software.
